About

  • The Play Specialist Service (TPSS) is run by myself, Vicki Ivie, which was formed in January 2017.

  •  I have been a qualified and registered Community Play Specialist since 2008 and a Family Systemic Practitioner since 2015.

  • I begin sessions after the initial meeting (of parents and children, often separately) by establishing a trusting relationship with the child, young person (YP) and family.

  • The outcome is usually a positive one. Anxiety levels are reduced, coping strategies put in place, new skills learnt  which allow those to feel  empowered  and able to move forward.

  • I  work predominantly within the home environment but can work in hospital or educational settings (with permission / consent granted from parents and the venue).

  • I  offer pre and post bereavement work,  and also families suffering trauma / loss / suffering.

  • I am currently  working with 2 Local Authority's in London as an Independent Service Provider with children /young people who are fostered and adopted.

  • I work collaboratively with other professionals from all agencies including those in the health, educational, social sector and charities.

  • I currently cover the areas of London and Surrey but offer Skype appointments and consultations for those families further away.

  • I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to assess and discuss areas of concern or worry and then follow up with an initial meeting with parents, then children and arrange a block of play sessions.

  • I offer training to professionals and have run a number of parent workshops.
